6/29/2023 0 Comments Feel Me by James HudsonIn almost every case when you receive a rejection email, it’s because a human being has looked at your resume and decided ‘no’. The truth is the majority of applicant tracking systems (ATS) are incredibly legacy technology - basic databases with little to no automation. Nor are there algorithms to beat or keywords to optimize for. I promise the ATS is not rejecting your resume… Obviously this is all pretty low-stakes, but if anyone has any insight I’ll be an eager student! But one post (Tiffany) got 10x the reach and 12x the engagement □ The subject matter is ostensibly the same (the opening of flagship stores - Chanel vs Tiffany), and even the imagery is similar. Take these examples, posted two weeks apart, both at 7am pacific on a Friday (my regular day for ‘fun’ content). What I haven’t been able to fathom however, is why two posts, both alike in dignity, can have wildly different outcomes. And whilst this has been a far-from-scientific approach, I’ve posted enough to have made some observations / assumptions about what seems to work and what doesn’t. I’ve been posting pretty regularly since I got laid off, mostly to have a creative outlet and to try something that Corporate America™️ didn’t leave me much time for. A tale of two posts (or an algorithm allegory)īut if anyone with working knowledge of how the social algorithms actually work, I’d love to learn more.
